Kings run out winners in second Japanese Representative fixture

The youth of the Japanese National Cup have defeated the Spartans 50 – 30 in the second domestic Kings v Spartans clash held by the Japanese Rugby League.

Launched earlier in the year, the Kings v Spartans Representative Fixture sees the best players from the Japanese National Cup (Kings) take on some of the legends of the Japanese Rugby League and other domestic Samurai players (Spartans) in an 80-minute showdown.

After the two teams finished in a 26-all draw at the Okudo Comprehensive Sports Center in Tokyo in June, the return fixture was held at Katsushika Sogo Sports Centre in Katsushika City earlier in September, and with the opportunity to play against the Philippines on offer for players who impressed both teams held nothing back in the high scoring encounter.

In a see-sawing clash, the Kings held a slight 22 – 18 lead at halftime in the fixture before running away with the match in the Final Quarter to win 50 – 30.
