Manila Storm record first win of 2019 Estepa Elefante Cup campaign

Philippines National Rugby League foundation club, the Manila Storm, have claimed their first win of the season after defeating the North Luzon Hunters in Round Three of the Estepa Elefante Cup.

The match, played in mid-July, was a high scoring affair with 16-tries scored between the two teams as the newly reinvigorated Storm outfit ran out 54 – 42 winners at the famous Blue Pitch in Makati City.

Kicking off in warm conditions, the Storm were the first to score to setup a 6 – 0 lead before North Luzon scored three unanswered tries to setup an 18 – 6 lead after just the first quarter. Manila rallied to draw equal by halftime with both teams locked up at 24 – all, before putting in a dominant third quarter to wrap up the game.

Next round of the Estepa Elefante Cup will see the Manila Storm take on the Cavite State University Tigers.
