North Luzon Hunters too strong for Cavite in Manila

The North Luzon Hunters have recorded their first win over the 2019 Philippines National Rugby League Estepa Elefante Challenge Cup after defeating the Cavite University Tigers in Makati City.

After the second round of the Premiership was delayed due to the earthquakes in the Zambales region of the Philippines, the third Estepa Elefante Challenge Cup was forced to change the competition draw further after the newly created Clarke Brothers withdrew from the competition.

The change saw Round One teams, the Hunters and Tigers, face off again in what was the first Rugby League match played on the Gatorade Blue Pitch in the national capital with the Hunters running out winners 28 – 16 despite trailing the Cavite University team 12 – 4.

The Cavite University Tigers will face the Manila Storm in Round Three of the Estepa Elefante Challenge Cup on June 9.
