The newly formed National Rugby League Indonesia Federation has announced that it will host a Rugby League Nines competition this November.
The event, which will be open to Men’s and Women’s teams both locally and abroad, will be the first major event planed by the newly formed NRLIF as the sport looks to return to Indonesia.
Rugby League was last played in Bali in 2010 when a touring British and Irish Academic Lions Universities team played an Indonesian Select XIII running out 55 – 0 winners in Kuta.
On that same day, the then, Indonesian Rugby League Federation hosted the Final to Indonesia’s only Junior Rugby League competition, the Garuda Cup, which saw the Kuta Corsairs defeat the Tegalalang Tigers 26 – 24 in the Under 16’s event.
