Inaugural Women’s clash finishes in a draw

The inaugural Women’s Rugby League match played in the Kingdom of Thailand has finished in a thrilling 16-all draw in Ubon Ratchathani last weekend.

The match, between the Moon River Wildcats and the Mukdahan Blue Birds, capped off the Women’s Regional Development program held in the city with more than 50 Women from around the district taking part.

The program, run by Ballina Seagulls Women’s coach and former Balmain and North Sydney First Grader, Rodney Joyce, introduced the fundamentals of the sport to the local community as they build towards running their own Women’s Regional Rugby League competition in 2020.

The participants in the camp then took part in the historic encounter as both teams scored four tries a piece in a high running game of football.

Additional Development matches will be scheduled through the remainder of 2019 as the Isaan Federation of Clubs looks to build out the program.
