Match Report: Bangkok City Bulldogs v Banglamung Broncos

Opening game of the ASEAN Super League was played in unseasonably hot and humid conditions at KMUTT Stadium, Ladkrabang as the Bangkok Bulldogs hosted the Broncos from Banglamung which is a district of the neighbouring Chon Buri province.

A much bigger Broncos pack dominated the early exchanges but a tenacious Bulldog side countered the visitors every time they looked set to kick away.

Two quick fire tries from Broncos centre N. Woorapang were answered in kind by a long range try to Dogs rival Kunjatinun Keawpaolup

With big mobile forwards like “Nam” Simsree leading the Broncos midfield stampede only last ditch Blue and White scramble defence halted a likely kick away

Despite giving away obvious field position the Bulldogs kept in the hunt and just before the break utility forward Santisuk Leepo levelled the score at 18-all

The Banglamung Boys looked likely to tire against a hot afternoon wind but Bangkok failed to utilise the conditions to their advantage.

The Broncos kicked 12 points clear midway through the second half but a second touch down to bulldogs centre Kunjatinun Keawpaolup bought the scores to 30-24.

As the home side looked to be getting on top a try to the fatiguing Broncos against the run of play eventually broke the Bulldog’s resolve and a late try to the out of towners saw a final score line of 32-24.
